State Sen. Ted Little link to external web site  has donated $5,000 to the Auburn University College of Education to assist the K-12 Master's Instructional Leadership Preparation Program in the Department of Educational Foundations, Leadership and Technology.

Little presented a check on Aug. 7 in support of the redesigned master's degree program for K-12 administrators, which conforms to new Alabama Department of Education Instructional Leadership Standards. Dr. Lynne Patrick, a clinical associate professor, and Jane Huntley, director of the college's East Alabama Regional Inservice Center  link to external web site, have worked to build a partnership within the college to provide support for the leadership needs of area school systems. Patrick and Huntley expect the collaborative effort to offer outreach services to 15 local school systems, with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction.

As part of the outreach project, Patrick and Huntley plan to bring Kenneth Henson, author of Curriculum Planning, to Auburn to explore the comprehensive nature of curriculum development as it relates to education reform. Representatives of the 15 school systems served by the EARIC and the new ILPP cohort will be invited to attend the event at no charge. As a follow-up to Henson's visit, Patrick and Huntley plan to host a series of face-to-face meetings and a continuous online Blackboard chat room to facilitate discussion throughout the school year.
